Intens Rosat 2013

Brut Nature Gran Reserva

Recaredo Intens Rosat embodies the chromatic intensity achieved by grapes in the Mediterranean region. A focus on authenticity yields a sparkling wine that is dry, lively and enticing, defining an essentially gastronomical style.

Recaredo Intens Rosat is a completely dry brut nature cava with no added sugar. We recommend serving Intens Rosat at around 8-10 ºC.

51% Monastrell  ·  36% Pinot  ·  6% Garnatxa

Recaredo's family vineyards. Recaredo Intens is made exclusively with grapes from our own vineyards located in the sloping banks of the Bitlles River, in the county of the Alt Penedès (Barcelona). The vines grow in highly calcareous soils.

Biodynamic viticulture, a step beyond organic farming. We let plant cover grow spontaneously between the vines. This cover plays a crucial role loosening the soil, regulating water retention and drainage, and helping to foster biodiversity. Infusions of medicinal plants are applied to the vines to control the presence of fungus in the vineyard and strengthen the vine's defences.

Hand-harvested grapes to maintain the properties of the fruits used for a long-aged cava.

In-house vinification. Vinification, winemaking and ageing are carried out entirely in Recaredo. The colour is obtained by macerating the must with the red grape skins for six hours.

Long-aged wines. Secondary fermentation and bottle ageing are done exclusively with natural cork stoppers. Cork is sustainable, recyclable and ideal for retaining the original character of a long-aged cava.

Manual disgorging without freezing. Disgorging (the uncorking process) is done by hand without freezing the neck of the bottle, a technique based on skilled craftsmanship and respect for the environment.

A dry autumn is followed by abundant rainfall in the spring. In fact, this vintage is one of the rainiest of recent years, with 620 l/m2 of precipitation. All the tasks involved in viticulture – rigorous, methodical and precise steps taken over the course of the year – lead to excellent quality, well-structured wines, and plenty of aromatic power in musts and wines.

• Average Recaredo vineyard yield in 2013: 38,1 hl/ha.
• Maximum yield authorised by the Cava Regulatory Council in 2013: 88 hl/ha

Less production, greater expressiveness and quality.

The high temperatures forced us to harvest in 18 days. The grapes ripened extremely quickly so the controls were increased and the team of vintagers expanded to meet the ideal harvesting deadline. Our work against the clock was worth it as we obtained grapes with a very good, fresh and natural acidity.

• Average yield for Recaredo vineyards in 2011: 41.7 hl/ha
• Upper limit set by the Cava Regulatory Board: 80 hl/ha

Brut de Brut 2007

Finca Serral del Vell · Brut Nature Gran Reserva

Sobriety and elegance. Strength and full-bodied character. Our highly calcareous soils and the microclimate of the Serral del Vell hillock give each vintage an unmistakable character. Bursting with strength, harmonious and complete. Crystallised fruits merge with notes of the ripest citrus fruit.

Recaredo Brut de Brut is a completely dry brut nature cava with no added sugar. We recommend serving Brut de Brut at around 10°C and opening the bottle a few minutes before serving.

51%  Xarel·lo
49%  Macabeu

The vintage is vibrant and balanced, marked by meteorological contrasts, with high temperatures and little rain in the autumn and winter months. Rains were erratic in the spring, and in May a record rainfall was recorded in the vineyards (155.7 l/m2).

Mildew came on hard but the biodynamic treatments we applied proved highly effective. In the end, the grapes harvested were of high quality and in exceptionally good health.

Reserva Particular 2005

Josep Mata Capellades

In 1962 Josep Mata Capellades, in close collaboration with his sons Josep and Antoni, created the Reserva Particular de Recaredo with the original idea of conveying the delicateness and the subtle complexity of a long-aged cava without sacrificing freshness and the most authentic expression of time.

Reserva Particular de Recaredo represents the Mediterranean in its purest form, interprets the calcareous lands of the easternmost part of the Penedès region and shows the profound character of our oldest Xarel·lo and Macabeu vines.

Mineral and complex, full of inner life with long-lasting flavour. Completely dry brut nature cava with no added sugar. We recommend serving Reserva Particular at around 10°C and opening the bottle a few minutes before serving.

Recaredo, family of winegrowers. Reserva Particular de Recaredo is made with the Mediterranean varieties Xarel·lo and Macabeu from old vineyards planted between 1950 and 1955 in the sloping banks of the Bitlles River (county of Alt Penedès, Barcelona).

Organic agriculture. No chemical herbicides or insecticides are used. Only natural organic fertiliser.

Hand-harvested grapes. Harvesting is done completely by hand to maintain the properties of the grapes used for a long-aged cava.

In-house vinification. Vinification, winemaking and ageing are carried out entirely in Recaredo.

The 2005 vintage is marked by contrasts: low rainfalls and an unusually cold winter against a hot Mediterranean summer. The vintage is striking for its complexity and mineral notes, resulting from fruit of outstanding quality and excellent acidity.

• Average Recaredo vineyard yield in 2005:  34.5 hl/ha.
• Maximum yield authorised by the Cava Regulatory Council in 2005:  80 hl/ha
