Subtil 2008: top-rated sparkling wine in Sevi guide
Recaredo Subtil 2008 is the highest-rated sparkling wine in the Guía de Vinos y Aceites 2017, the latest edition of a guide to wines and olive oils published by the specialised magazine La Semana Vitivinícola (SeVi).
The seventh edition remains true to its guiding principles, opting to classify wines according to the main grape variety used in the blend. This year, it covers 1850 wines and extra virgin olive oils from over 427 wineries and cellars throughout Spain, which were tasted and assessed by specialised journalist Antonio Casado.
Subtil 2008, made with grapes from Recaredo’s Serral del Vell Estate, offers mineral nuances and creamy undertones that give it a profile of authenticity.
Serral del Roure Estate is property of Recaredo and it is located in the Bitlles Valley Highlands, in the county of Alt Penedès (Barcelona). The name of the estate refers to the gentle hills on the land, overlooked by a large oak tree next to the Torrent de la Salada. Soils on the Serral del Roure estate have a loamy texture and are characterised by a balance of particle sizes: sand, silt and clay. Clay-loam soils predominate in the lower areas, while in the upper zones there is an abundance of pebbles and gravel. The calcareous soil provides good levels of drainage in the upper areas and a higher water retention capacity in lower areas, where the soil depth is also greater.
