Josep and Antoni Mata win Josep Mercader award in ‘Wine Crafts’ category
At a ceremony held yesterday evening, the Girona Gastronomic Forum presented brothers Josep and Antoni Mata Casanovas with the Josep Mercader Award in the ‘Wine Crafts’ category. As well as acknowledging the long trajectory of the second generation of the Recaredo family as growers and winemakers of sparkling terroir wines, the award recognises Recaredo’s pioneering role in applying sustainability principles through the practice of biodynamic agriculture (first cellar certified by Demeter) and the use of natural cork stoppers during ageing of all its sparkling wines.
