Recaredo wines among top scorers in Wine Advocate and Guía Peñín
- Reserva Particular stands out as the top-rated Recaredo wine in both publications and earns a place among the country’s best wines.
The American publication The Wine Advocate-Robert Parker has awarded 96 points to the 2008 vintage of Recaredo Reserva Particular, a wine that Luis Gutiérrez, an official taster for the prestigious magazine, describes as “astonishingly good” and one of the best vintages of this sparkling wine. “I’m really blown away. It’s an exceptional wine with extraordinary aromas and incredible freshness – very intense and pungent,” writes Gutiérrez. The 2008 vintage of Recaredo Reserva Particular will be available early in 2020.
Like its successor, the 2007 vintage of Recaredo Reserva Particular is also one of the most lauded wines in the 2020 Guía Peñín, where this sparkling wine, aged for over 10 years, scores 98 points, earning it a place among the best wines in this year’s edition.
In addition to these two high scores for Reserva Particular, Turó d’en Mota 2006 was also rated very highly, scoring 95+ in the Wine Advocate and 97 in the Guía Peñín. With such strong ratings, this iconic Recaredo wine once again tops the list of the country’s best sparkling wines.
Recaredo’s other sparkling wines were also awarded excellent scores (over 90 points): Serral del Vell 2011 (94 in the Wine Advocate, 96 in Guía Peñín), Terrers 2015 (93 and 94 points) and Intens Rosat 2014 (92, Wine Advocate).
About Reserva Particular de Recaredo
In 1962 Josep Mata Capellades, in close collaboration with his sons Josep and Antoni, created the Reserva Particular de Recaredo with the original idea of conveying the delicateness and the subtle complexity of a long-aged wine without sacrificing freshness and the most authentic expression of time.
Reserva Particular is made using grapes from a selection of old vineyards on three Recaredo estates—Pedra Blanca, Can Romeu and Can Rossell de la Serra circumscribed by the Anoia River and the Salada, Can Bautista and Lavernó gullies. The soils are highly calcareous and have a silt-loam texture.
Since 1962, three generations of the Recaredo family have cultivated the character of Reserva Particular, creating a unique style based on freshness and the authentic expression of time. Reserva Particular is, without doubt, a tribute to time and to the Corpinnat territory.
