Enoteca 2004 Reserva Particular

15 years of ageing · Brut Nature

‘Enoteca 2004 Reserva Particular’ is yet another step – one of many taken since 1924 – in the process of defining Recaredo.

Initially intended for Recaredo family celebrations, the Recaredo wine collections succeed in preserving an absolutely distinctive identity, shaped by vocation, effort and patient passion.

It is a completely dry Brut Nature sparkling wine, with no sugar added for sweetening.

Recaredo, family of winegrowers. 'Enoteca 2004 Reserva Particular' is made with the Mediterranean varieties Xarel·lo and Macabeu from old vineyards planted between 1950 and 1955 in the sloping banks of the Corpinnat territory (county of Alt Penedès, Barcelona).

Hand-harvested grapes to maintain the properties of the fruits used for a long-aged sparkling wine.

In-house vinification. Vinification, winemaking and ageing are carried out entirely in Recaredo.

15 years of ageing. Secondary fermentation and 185 months bottle ageing are done exclusively with natural cork stoppers. Cork is sustainable, recyclable and ideal for retaining the original character of a long-aged sparkling wine.

Manual disgorging without freezing. Disgorging (the uncorking process) is done by hand without freezing the neck of the bottle, a technique based on skilled craftsmanship and respect for the environment.

An eminently rainy vintage, in which a dry summer asserts the Mediterranean essence of our land. With patient as a virtue, the 2004 vintage unlocks the memories of indigenous varieties of Xarel.lo and Macabeu and old vineyards watched by Montserrat Mountain, powerfully evoking a vibrant landscape that lays claim to a place in our memory.

In order to guarantee the maximum expressiveness and quality of the wine we work with low yields in the vineyard. In the case of 2004 vintage, the average yield of Recaredo vines was 31.8 hl/ha.

Reserva Particular 2011

Brut Nature Long Ageing

In 1962 Josep Mata Capellades, in close collaboration with his sons Josep and Antoni, created the Reserva Particular de Recaredo with the original idea of conveying the delicateness and the subtle complexity of a long-aged sparkling wine without sacrificing freshness and the most authentic expression of time.

Reserva Particular de Recaredo represents the Mediterranean in its purest form, interprets the calcareous lands of the easternmost part of the Penedès region and shows the profound character of our oldest Xarel·lo and Macabeu vines.

Mineral and complex, full of inner life with long-lasting flavour. Completely dry brut nature sparkling wine with no added sugar. We recommend serving Reserva Particular at around 10°C and opening the bottle a few minutes before serving.

Thanks to the excellent work done by our team, we collected the bunches with a very good, fresh and natural acidity. The high temperatures and unusual drought forced us to harvest in only 18 days. Our work against the clocks was worth it as we obtained grapes with the ideal graduation and sanitary parameters.

In order to guarantee the maximum expressiveness and quality of the wine, we work with low yields in the vineyard. In the case of 2011 vintage, the average yield of Recaredo vines was 41.7 hl/ha.

Serral del Vell 2016

Brut Nature Long Ageing

Recaredo Serral del Vell is a completely dry brut nature sparkling wine with no added sugar. We recommend serving it at around 10°C and opening the bottle a few minutes before serving.

Single-estate character. Grapes harvested from Recaredo’s Serral del Vell Estate, which stands on a small plateau (serral) carved out of the Bitlles Valley Highlands on a mainly calcareous terrain.

Biodynamic viticulture, a step beyond organic farming. We let plant cover grow spontaneously between the vines. This cover plays a crucial role in loosening the soil, regulating water retention and drainage, and helping to foster biodiversity. Infusions of plants are applied to the vines to control the presence of fungus in the vineyard and strengthen the vine's defences.

Hand-harvested grapes. Harvesting is done completely by hand to maintain the properties of the grapes used for a long-aged wine.

In-house vinification. Vinification, winemaking and ageing are carried out entirely in Recaredo.

The harvest came early and was over quickly due to a lack of rain, particularly in the autumn and winter, combined with high temperatures. We had continued to look skywards hopefully until the spring brought scanty rains in May and April, which were vitally important, allowing for good budding of the vines. But June passed without a drop of rain, bringing the growth of the plants to a sudden halt. At the height of summer, an almost miraculous rain fell on the vineyards and saving the growing area from being declared a disaster zone.

In order to guarantee the maximum expressiveness and quality of the wine, we work with low yields in the vineyard. In the case of the 2016 vintage, the average yield of Recaredo vines was 22 hl/ha.

A capriciously dry summer with remarkable heat waves lends character to a vintage blessed by spring and autumn rains. Nature shows its harshest face in early June. Apart from blisteringly hot days and a scarcity of water, we must cope with the fallout of an extremely drought-affected harvest in 2016, which reduces budding and results in an average harvest of very low yields.

In order to guarantee the maximum expressiveness and quality of the wine, we work with low yields in the vineyard. In the case of the 2017 vintage, the average yield of Recaredo vines was 26.5 hl/ha.

After a number of vintages marked by drought, we no longer find ourselves looking skywards yearning for rain. The rains, especially those that fall in spring, make the viticulture tasks we perform an exciting challenge, especially to prevent problems with fungal diseases, such as downy mildew. We finish the harvest with grapes that are of great purity and in very good health.

In order to guarantee the maximum expressiveness and quality of the wine, we work with low yields in the vineyard. In the case of the 2018 vintage, the average yield of Recaredo vines was 43.4 hl/ha.
