Homenatge Josep Mata Capellades 2004 is the result of a joint effort by the second and third generations of the Recaredo family to commemorate the figure of Josep Mata Capellades, the founder of Recaredo, one hundred years after the birth of a passion for quality and for truly terroir sparkling wines.
Xarel·lo and Macabeu, the Mediterranean varieties used to make Homenatge Josep Mata Capellades 2004, come from old vineyards planted in the north-eastern part of the Alt Penedès, around the Bitlles Valley Highlands. The soil is deep, sedimentary and highly calcareous, with a clay loam texture that facilitates water retention and gives a clear identity to wines made from the grapes grown there.
With its fresh, well-balanced acidity and particularly well-integrated bubbles, this corpinnat symbolises our passion for the craftsmanship of terroir, conveying the complexity of an extremely long-aged sparkling wine of outstanding character, without sacrificing freshness, and the most authentic expression of time and the Corpinnat territory.
Homenatge Josep Mata Capellades 2004 is a tribute to the purity and defiance of an eminently rainy vintage, in which a dry summer asserts the Mediterranean essence of our land. With patience as a virtue, the 2004 vintage releases the memory of almost two decades of rest and stillness in the darkness of Recaredo’s cellars, evoking the old Xarel·lo and Macabeu vineyards, watched over by Montserrat Mountain, and embodying a living history that claims its place in our memory.
The Enoteca 1999 de Turó d’en Mota de Recaredo is yet another step – one of many taken since 1924 – in the process of defining Recaredo. It succeeds in preserving an absolutely distinctive identity, shaped by vocation, effort and patient passion.
100% Xarel·lo | Single-vineyard | Numbered edition of 150 bottles
The Enoteca Turó d’en Mota de Recaredo is the result of a fierce non-conformism, but also of the ingenuous spirit and romanticism that lead us to embark on an emotional quest to capture this land of lime and its old Xarel·lo vines.
A true natural heritage feature. Planted in 1940, the Turó d’en Mota vineyard is located in the municipality of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia (Barcelona), on the slopes of the hill from which it takes its name, which is crowned by a lush Mediterranean forest of pines and shrubs. Its soils contains an abundance of calcareous nodules.
25 years on from the first vintage of this iconic wine, we continue to explore the boundaries of Xarel·lo through the compelling lens of long-aged sparkling wines. In this case, the bottles spent over 23 years in the ‘caves’, before being manually disgorged at the cool, natural temperature of our cellars.
The Enoteca 1999 de Turó d'en Mota de Recaredo is the result of the combined efforts of fathers and sons, oenologists and disgorgers, pruners and grape pickers, but above all of
our deep belief in the limitless potential of this land of Xarel·los that we admire so much.
1999, Turó d’en Mota de Recaredo was born, the first single-variety Xarel·lo sparkling wine ever and a bold champion for single-plot quality sparkling wines made in the heart of the
Penedès region.
The history of Turó d’en Mota de Recaredo is that of an old forgotten vineyard, which inspired us –at the end of the 90s and following our instinct– to recover it and value the natural heritage it represents.
When we glimpse Turó d’en Mota, we sense that it’s much more than just a vineyard. What stands before us is a cluster of vine stocks, or rather living beings that have stoically borne witness to the passing of one season after another since 1940. To uproot one of them would be to uproot ourselves.
‘Turó d’en Mota 2010’ is fruit of nature, nurtured by people who observe and respect its laws.
Represents the elegance of simplicity: a unique vineyard, a single grape variety, one vintage and a production of only 2,581 bottles.
100% Xarel·lo
Recaredo, family of winegrowers. 'Turó d’en Mota' is made using grapes harvested from a 0.97-ha vineyard that stands on a slope which faces north-east and is sheltered by the woods that cover the hill. The vineyard, which was planted in 1940 and trained traditionally, is property of Recaredo.
Hand-harvested grapes to maintain the properties of the fruits used for a long-aged sparkling wine.
In-house vinification. Vinification, winemaking and ageing are carried out entirely in Recaredo.
A long and careful ageing of at least 12 years and a half in contact with the lees obtains the most subtle and complex nuances of the expression of time.
Manual disgorging without freezing. Disgorging (the uncorking process) is done by hand without freezing the neck of the bottle, a technique based on skilled craftsmanship and respect for the environment.
The 2010 vintage is the authentic expression of a year marked by exceptional climatic conditions, with abundant autumn and spring rains. This particularity will entail meticulous management of the plant cover and intensive green pruning work.
We welcome the arrival of dry, warm summer days. The vineyards grow surrounded by a great diversity of living beings, essential for the preservation and balance of ecosystem food chains.
With its radiant personality, the 2010 vintage boasts the authentic character of a terroir wine that transcends time, reflecting more than 12 years of patient waiting in the darkness of our ‘cavas’.
In order to guarantee the maximum expressiveness and quality of the wine we work with low yields in the vineyard. In the case of 2010 vintage, the average yield of Turó d'en Mota vineyard was 21 hl/ha.

A rigorous approach and the respect for the ecosystem and the land it entails clearly pay off, and thanks to our perfectly balanced vineyards we’re able to easily overcome the challenge posed by continuous rains in the spring and summer. The grapes harvested at Recaredo are extraordinarily well balanced in terms of must weight and acid level, so there’s no need to acidify or add sugar to the must. 2014 vintage is remarkable for its high level of complexity, depth and mineral expression.
In order to guarantee the maximum expressiveness and quality of the wine, we work with low yields in the vineyard. In the case of 2014 vintage, the average yield of Recaredo vines was 40,5 hl/ha.

Biodynamic viticulture, a step beyond organic farming. We let plant cover grow spontaneously between the vines. This cover plays a crucial role in loosening the soil, regulating water retention and drainage, and helping to foster biodiversity. Infusions of plants are applied to the vines to control the presence of fungus in the vineyard and strengthen the vine's defences.
Hand-harvested grapes. Harvesting is done completely by hand to maintain the properties of the grapes used for a long-aged wine.
In-house vinification. Vinification, winemaking and ageing are carried out entirely in Recaredo.

After a number of vintages marked by drought, we no longer find ourselves looking skywards yearning for rain. The land demands rigorous and methodical work to prevent problems with fungal diseases, such as downy mildew. Thanks to continuous monitoring by our viticulture team, we don’t suffer significant damage, and the vines teach us a lesson on adaptation.
In order to guarantee the maximum expressiveness and quality of the wine, we work with low yields in the vineyard. In the case of the 2018 vintage, the average yield of Recaredo vines was 43,4 hl/ha.
The subtlety is articulated in minerals notes and creamy reminiscences that create a sensory profile rooted in authenticity. The height of complexity, hints of fine ageing and well-integrated bubbles.

The 2019 vintage reflects an exuberant and demanding harvest notable for the excellent health of the grapes and the quality of the indigenous varieties we grow. As always, Xarel·lo is the standout on our biodynamic estates, displaying remarkable purity and freshness. With the memory of abundant autumn rains, and after an especially cold, dry winter, spring comes and Recaredo’s vineyards gradually awaken and begin to teem with life. The buds break later than usual, but showers in March and April allow the plants to grow with exceptional vigour.

Record-breaking year for rainfall. The Penedès county recorded rainfall of over 800 l/m2 in the 2019/20 wine year, well above the historical average of around 520 l/m2.
Abundant winter rains provide good water reserves for the vines, but frequent storms up to the beginning of summer lead to a serious outbreak of downy mildew, creating a situation never seen before in the Penedès region and reminding us that nature – living, vibrant and authentic – always has new lessons to teach us.
In order to guarantee the maximum expressiveness and quality of the wine, we work with low yields in the vineyard. In the case of the 2020 vintage, the average yield of Recaredo vines was 24 hl/ha.
