2001 Vintage
An atypical vintage with a winter marked by scarce and irregular rainfall, and a July that was the wettest month of the year. Temperatures were above average, creating significant water stress in the vines starting in May. The harvest, marked by low yields and very high grape quality, was brought forward and yielded completely healthy fruit.
Manual harvest: August 28rd, 2001
Yield: 3,750 kg/ha · 21 hl /ha
150 bottles, all numbered.
Rainfall from Oct. 2000 to Sept. 2001: 347 mm (Historical average rainfall: 519 mm)
Temperature in the 2000 / 2001 season: 15.8ºC (Historical average temperature 15.6ºC)

Concept
Non-conformism and conviction
The Enoteca Turó d’en Mota de Recaredo is the result of a fierce non-conformism, but also of the ingenuous spirit and romanticism that lead us to embark on an emotional quest to capture this land of lime and its old Xarel·lo vines.
It’s a way of telling our story, a vivid memory, a way of relating to each other, of getting to know each other. First and foremost, it seeks to offer wine lovers the opportunity to enjoy the Mediterranean landscape through a terroir Corpinnat in the broadest sense.
It represents the great illusion and the desire to discover and evolve on the part of the Recaredo family and team. It is the result of the combined efforts of fathers and sons, oenologists and disgorgers, pruners and grape pickers, but above all of our deep belief in the limitless potential of this land of Xarel·los that we admire so much.
The Vineyard
Planted in 1940 and covering an area of 0.97 hectares, the Turó d’en Mota vineyard is bush-trained and owned by Recaredo. Only in exceptional vintages is an additional 0.55-hectare southeast-facing plot incorporated.
This is located in the northwestern corner of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia in the Corpinnat territory, on the north side of a hill named Turó d’en Mota, from which it gets its name (turó means hill in Catalan).
The soils have a loam-silt texture (a balance of sand, silt, and clay) and are highly calcareous in nature. These are deep, well-drained soils with moderate water retention capacity. They are very evolved soils due to the presence of a calcic horizon with significant accumulations of carbonates in the form of nodules—stones formed from concentrated lime deposits. The soils contain 14% active limestone, making them extremely calcareous.
Organic matter is at 1.5% (very low), and the soil pH is 8.5 (very alkaline).
