Turó d’en Mota and Recaredo Tribut receive top scores from Parker guide
The influential US magazine Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate has given Recaredo Segona Plenitud 1996 a score of 97 points. With this stellar score, the sparkling wine, which belongs to the Recaredo private collection and has been aged for 20 years, has the honour of being Spain’s best-rated sparkling wine. Luis Gutiérrez, an official taster for the prestigious publication, says the complexity and authenticity of the sparkling wine makes it one of the best Spanish sparkling wines he’s ever tasted.
Recaredo Segona Plenitud is a tribute to the passion and vitality of Josep and Antoni Mata, the second generation of the Recaredo family—two winemakers who have devoted themselves wholeheartedly to their work for more than six decades, who forget the clock and the passage of time to bring forth the fruits of a true vocation with discretion, humility and sacrifice. The wine, aged for over 20 years, is also a tribute to time. This very limited-edition sparkling wine will be released in October 2018.
Turó d’en Mota 2004 was also given an excellent score—96+ points—by the Parker guide this year. Luis Gutiérrez describes it as a wine that’s “subtle and elegant, complex, fresh, harmonious, and very well integrated” and says it’s one of the best vintages of this sparkling wine.
In addition to these two impressive scores, very good results were also obtained by Recaredo Reserva Particular 2007 (95 points), Recaredo Serral del Vell 2008 (94 points), Recaredo Subtil 2011 (93 points) and Recaredo Terrers 2013 (92 points)—all positioned near the top of the Parker list.
