How to properly store Corpinnats at home | Recaredo

Learn how to store Corpinnats at home—even once opened. Practical tips on temperature, bubbles, and longevity to enjoy it to the fullest.

Why proper storage matters for Corpinnats Sparkling Wines

Corpinnats are sparkling wines crafted in the heart of the Penedès. The Corpinnat Collective Brand, with one of the most demanding sets of regulations in the world, is defined by organic viticulture, manual harvesting, estate vinification, long ageing sparkling wines, and a commitment to the historic grape varieties of the Penedès. These values result in sparkling wines that express a true sense of origin and require optimal conditions to preserve their full essence.

At Recaredo, we go even further: we cultivate only our own vineyards using organic and biodynamic farming methods, carry out a minimum ageing of 30 months, perform manual riddling on traditional racks, and hand-disgorge every single bottle we produce—without freezing the neck of the bottle.

Improper storage can affect the integrity of the bubbles, diminish aromatic expression, and compromise the balance that makes these Corpinnats a true reflection of the Penedès landscape.

Here are some tips to help you store a Recaredo sparkling wine properly at home and enjoy it at its best—whether now or in the months to come.

Ideal temperature for storage and serving

To ensure optimal evolution of Recaredo’s Corpinnats, it’s essential to store the bottles at a stable temperature between 14 and 16 ºC (57–61 ºF), replicating the natural conditions of our underground cellars. At Recaredo, we age and release all bottles with natural cork stoppers—a noble material that allows proper oxygen exchange, preserves wine quality over time, and is both sustainable and recyclable. Thanks to the use of high-quality cork, bottles can be stored horizontally at home with complete safety, without risk of compromising their essence.

When it comes to serving, it’s important to note: the optimal serving temperature is around 10 ºC (50 ºF). To appreciate its complexity and elegance, we recommend opening the bottle a few minutes beforehand and serving it in a glass with a wide bowl and a slightly narrower top to help concentrate the aromas.

Fridge, wine fridge or dark cabinet?

The ideal option is to store the bottles in a wine fridge with temperature and humidity control. If you don’t have one, a cool, dark interior cupboard can be a viable short-term solution. The household fridge can be useful for occasional use, but keep in mind that constant cold and low humidity can dry out the cork and compromise the wine’s preservation.

What to do once the bottle is opened?

Once opened, a bottle of Recaredo should ideally be consumed within the first 24 hours to preserve its freshness and vibrancy. At most, it is recommended to drink it within 48 hours.

Tips for preserving the bubbles and aromas

To maintain the integrity of the sparkling wine once opened, use a hermetic stopper designed for sparkling wines. Store the bottle upright in the fridge to minimize the surface area in contact with air and better preserve the carbonation and delicate aromas.

Tips for sparkling wine lovers without a wine cellar

Not having a cellar or wine fridge is no obstacle to enjoying Corpinnat as it should be. You can store bottles in a wooden box in a cool, dark place with stable temperature. Avoid areas with temperature swings, such as the kitchen or near radiators and other appliances.

Useful tools to store and enjoy Corpinnat sparkling wine

Having a few basic tools can make a real difference: hermetic stoppers for sparkling wines once opened, ice buckets, or cooling sleeves to keep the wine at the ideal temperature throughout a meal.

Properly storing a Corpinnat at home is a way of respecting the care and effort behind an artisanal process that begins in the vineyard and matures in silence in family-run cellars. With a few simple steps and practical tools, you can be sure that when you open a bottle of Recaredo, you’re also opening a window into time, terroir, and an authentic way of understanding wine.
