Recaredo among top ten Sparkling Wines in the world
In its December issue, Falstaff magazine, which is distributed in Austria, Switzerland and Germany, has published a list of the ten best sparkling wines in the world. Among them is Recaredo Turó d’en Mota 2003, which received a score of 97 points. According to the seven-member international jury, made up of wine journalists and sommeliers from some of Central Europe’s best restaurants, the results were “surprising”, with sparkling wines made in Germany, Italy and Catalonia sharing places on the ranking with the renowned champagne. “There are other great sparkling wines being made apart from champagne,” said Peter Moser, the editor-in-chief of Falstaff.
The jury recognised Turó d’en Mota as the truest expression of a 0.97-ha vineyard with highly calcareous soils—an outstanding sparkling wine aged on the lees for nearly 11 years. According to Falstaff, the top winemakers and ten best sparkling wines in the world are as follows:
