Recaredo recognised as ‘Catalonia’s Best Winery 2017’
Recaredo has been recognised as Catalonia’s Best Winery 2017 in the latest edition of the Night of the Sommelier Awards, organised by the Catalan Association of Sommeliers (ACS).
The award is intended to highlight the “obsessive care and attention to detail, both in the vineyard and in the winery”, that Recaredo puts into making its sparkling wines, and the winery’s determination “to maintain, generation after generation, a commitment to making terroir wines that reflect the Penedès landscape, championing traditional trades and craftsmanship, and achieving outstanding levels of quality”.
Oenologist Ton Mata, a member of the third generation of the Recaredo family, said that apart from the excitement they feel as winemakers, the award encourages them to continue advocating the principle that “great wines are born and made on the vine, always with the utmost respect for the land”.
The other recipients of awards, which recognise outstanding wineries, individuals and initiatives in the world of wine, were Josep Roca (sommelier at Celler de Can Roca, who received the “Honorary Member Award”), Audrey Doré (sommelier at Celler de Can Roca, “Best Sommelier in Catalonia 2017”), Eva Vicens (journalist, “Best Communicator 2017”), Toni Falgueras (a member of the fourth generation of the family behind Celler de Gelida, recognised for his career in the world of wine), and Albert Costa (oenologist at Celler Vall Llach, “Best Oenologist Award 2017”). The “Verema Solidaria” [Solidarity Harvest] project, which Celler Credo and Recaredo took place this year, was given the award for “Best Wine Initiative 2017”.
